POLICHINELLE SERİSİ
In my recent period, I have begun working on my own narratives through Polichinelle, a fictional Italian puppet character that has also been the subject of works by many artists and composers. With this series, I carried the calm and detail-oriented narration of a character I identify with—one that exists within the “moment,” where the concept of time dissolves and there is no sense of urgency—into a journey within life itself.
The Polichinelle series represents one of those moments that create a parallel effect in our own lives; it carries a style that is as challenging as it is full of contradictions. Through this character, I sought to establish a connection between the limited space we inhabit in life and the boundless concept of time, which often does not run parallel to the dreams we try to fit into that confined space.
My aim in these narratives was also to encourage a questioning of the concept of time and to raise questions about how we use time as a measurable quantity.
Polichinelle occupies the lowest rank on a social scale, yet represents a character who, despite being aware of his problems, always manages to escape them with a smile. He embodies the human spirit and primal instincts. He almost always appears contradictory, to the extent that he does not possess fixed characteristics. He can be rich or poor, a bully or a coward; at times, he may display both traits simultaneously. Behaviors condemned within society may appear as acceptable jokes in the palace. Both sides accept him with their own contradictions.
